Telemarketing isn’t dead. In fact, it is very much alive and well. But it is not the same as it used to be. Before, telemarketing was used by people to sell products and services. And this is why it became a “dirty word.” As they say, “nobody wants to be marketed to.”
Many marketers nowadays are using telemarketing as a tool to gather information; leads. They call prospects not to sell them their products and services but to introduce their business to these individuals. They are aware that the likelihood of being able to sell something nowadays through the phone is very slim. People want to trust you and your business before making a purchase.
When people know from the get-go that you are not trying to sell them something, they become more open to talking on the phone. They also become more receptive to whatever message it is that you are trying to get across.
Today, telemarketers call prospects with the intention to create qualified leads. Believe it or not, many people still prefer talking on the phone than just exchanging emails with others. When you can speak to a member of a team on the phone, it can be just as good or maybe better than getting that person to “opt-in” to your mailing list. Of course, you should still get his or her email after your phone conversation so you can follow up online. But the point is, being able to talk to a prospect on the phone is a big deal.
So now that you know that telemarketing isn’t dead, will you engage in telemarketing to create leads and help your business grow?
